Santa’s Mailbox
Santa’s elves will be delivering special paper to the Park District for children to write letters to Santa, as well as an exclusive mailbox for Santa! Please pick-up your “letter to Santa” forms at the Maine Park front desk beginning December 1st. Make sure they are returned to Santa’s mailbox with your full name and address no later than December 13, 2008. Santa will take care of the postage!

Santa’s Calling
Jolly St. Nick will once again be calling Park Ridge children ages 3-8 this Christmas season to talk with them and check their Christmas lists. In order to make arrangements with Santa, parents are required to come to Maine Park Leisure Center during office hours to complete Santa’s information form. A maximum amount of 50 forms will be available beginning the week of December 1. Santa’s phone calls will be made between 6:30pm and 8:00pm on December 12. Please be patient and brief as he has many calls to make.


Dec 4-5 | Santa Paws
Santa is on his way to visit your furry, scaly, small, and slimy critters! Santa will travel to your home and take a picture with your pet or you and your pet. The visit will last approximately 10 minutes. All animal friends must be people friendly. You will receive a copy of the digital image sent to your e-mail address or mailed to your home, and treats for both animals and humans. (Min 4/Max 8)

Dec 5, 6 & 7 | Candy Cane Lane Shoppe
This store is geared for the junior shopper. Inside the store your child will be able to buy that special holiday gift for mom, dad, brother, sister, grandma, grandpa or friend. Most gifts cost $5 or less. Elves will be on hand to assist shoppers with their purchases and gift wrapping. Parents are invited to wait in our ‘Reindeer Café’ while the children are shopping.

Dec 6 | Breakfast With Santa
Join us at Maine Park for fun and entertainment at our “Breakfast with Santa.” You have two seatings to choose from. Enjoy a catered breakfast buffet, receive a treat and get a professional picture taken with Santa. Each person attending this event needs to be registered. No at-the-door-registration. Join us for holiday shopping at our Candy Cane Lane Shoppe after breakfast with Santa. Registration deadline: November 28. (Min 50/Max 125)

Tired of dragging that heavy recycling bin to the curb? Here’s a class that will help you find ways of re-using common items like pop bottles, coffee cans, and milk cartons. Learn how to create treasures out of trash, and take home ideas for future family fun! (Min 4/Max 8)

Dec 13 | Polar Express
Journey to the North Pole (Downtown Chicago) on a Metra Train (leaving from the Park Ridge Dee Rd. Metra Station) while enjoying refreshments, caroling, and listening to a storyteller read the book “Polar Express” by Chris Allsburg. Santa Claus will board the train when we arrive at the “North Pole” and will travel back with us to the Park Ridge Metra Station. Times are subject to change through Metra. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to check in. When you arrive staff will guide you to the check in location. The trains do not wait for latecomers. Each person attending must register for this event. (Min 75/Max 120)

Enjoy watching some of Oakton’s finest skaters perform on Sunday, December 21, beginning at 4:00pm at this FREE exhibition.

Dec 31 | Countdown Celebration
Help us ring in the New Year with this safe family-oriented celebration. Families will have fun spending the evening together while enjoying a catered dinner buffet, a make your own sundae bar, DJ, entertainment, bounce house, a tot play area for ages 3 and under, inflatable slide, and of course a countdown to the New Year with a balloon drop and bubble wrap stomp. Grab your friends and neighbors and sign up today to guarantee your spot in the fun. This is a family-oriented event, alcohol is not permitted. No at-the-door registration. Registration deadline: December 17. (Min 50/Max 175)
