Learn
to Skate Instruction
Oakton Ice Arena is an award-winning member of the Ice Skating Institute (ISI) and teaches skating in accordance with the National Standards established by the Institute (ISI) which set up a recreational program for the purpose of encouraging people to skate more often and objectively. It is styled to develop skating skills through periods of practice and periodical testing. All skating levels are tested to measure the skater’s ability to perform skills within each level. Tests are administered once during each session. The system provides a measurement for all skaters from beginning to the most advanced and is geared to the interest of the recreational skater. Anyone interested in becoming a member of ISI, please contact the Arena office at 847-692-3359.

Little
Steamers Learn to Play Hockey Classes
Classes are structured so your child will have the opportunity to learn the basics of hockey from USA Hockey Certified Professional Skills Instructors in an atmosphere that is relaxed, non competitive and fun to learn.
Pre-Hockey and Hockey 1 will focus mainly on skating skills needed to get a great start in the game.
Steamers Skill & Drills will introduce the hockey stick and hockey puck to the young players. First time skaters will start at the Pre-Hockey level.
Skaters who have completed either the Tot 2 or Pre-Alpha 1 classes can enter at Hockey 1. A limited number of children’s hockey skates are available for rental at a cost of $2.00.
For additional information contact Don Salemi or Clint Lauderdale at 847-692-8595.
